Media Hype on Boozing
A group of MPs have come up with a completely obvious way to combat booze binge culture – take two days off.
While it’s common sense to give your liver a rest from the toxic agent that is alcohol, over the years there have been so many confusing ambiguous stories related to alcohol. Remember the one about the glass of red wine a day being good for your heart? Or what about the hot toddy for that common cold?
The problem is that inevitably, after the Christmas and New Year booze up, the media and indeed scientists are going to try to warn people about the dangers of alcohol – and part of that is to hype up the dangers. POYP thinks that while it is indeed, not rocket science to give your liver a couple of days off per week, it is quite hypey to tarnish everyone in the UK as a potential alcoholic. What’s more, he is certain that this news will be overidden by some confusing new message the week after.
And of course, the other problem is that depending on your metabolism, some people can take more drink in than others. Some people only need touch a drop and they are on the floor. Others can consume much much more, and still feel fighting fit in the morning. Whilst POYP doesn’t promote the freedom to down booze all the time, it’s not as black and white for everyone.
Just remember, that we are not communists….Not everyone is the same when it comes to the consumption of the damaging agent, alcohol…
POYP said it before in a post. What needs to change is the culture of drinking in the UK. He wonders how many people will take to the bottle in light of the grim economic situation this year and beyond? In fact, sometimes when it comes to drink that is the only thing some people have on their minds after a day’s work. How many people quip after work, I’m dying for a pint?

I understand your point, but our drink culture in my opinion is too extreme and something needs to be done about it.
